In a remarkable display of collaboration and dedication, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) joined forces with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) to organize an insightful event aimed at empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in building resilient supply chains. The event, titled "MSME Supply Chain Resilience Capacity Building Workshop," drew the participation of more than 150 delegates from diverse sectors of the industry.
Hosted at the Nustar Convention Center in the vibrant city of Cebu on July 26 (Wednesday), the workshop brought together key players from the business world, including representatives from ABAC-US, UPS, Aboitiz, and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The collaboration extended to include esteemed partners like the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Cebu Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CFCCI), People’s Management Association in the Philippines (PMAP), and the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA-Cebu Chapter).
The overarching goal of the workshop was to arm MSMEs with indispensable knowledge and best practices that successful companies have employed to ensure sustainability and resilience. The diverse panel of speakers and experts, hailing from various sectors such as food, retail, transportation, logistics, healthcare, and e-commerce, graced the event with their insights.
A pivotal aspect of the event was its emphasis on forging new partnerships and collaborations. These alliances are vital not only to address the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic but also to navigate the complex web of geopolitical disruptions. As larger corporations have diversified their strategies to cope with market shifts—adopting measures like operational halts, cost-cutting initiatives, e-commerce integration, and establishment of multiple distribution channels—MSMEs were encouraged to identify business gaps and explore alternative approaches.
Digital adaptation emerged as a recurring theme throughout the workshop. As disruptions and uncertainties continue to make their presence felt, the importance of incorporating digital solutions into business operations becomes increasingly evident. Adapting to the digital landscape is not merely a choice but a necessity to ensure uninterrupted business continuity.
The workshop's theme, "Supply Chain Resilience," resonated profoundly in light of the pandemic's profound impact on various industries. The crisis has unveiled both the strengths and vulnerabilities of businesses, highlighting the need for robust supply chains that can weather unpredictable storms.
Serving as a prelude to the third APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meeting, this workshop seamlessly aligns with CCCI's overarching mission. By elevating Cebu's global competitiveness through strategic programs and initiatives, the CCCI is cementing its role as a catalyst for positive change. The organization's dedication to enhancing member capabilities through advocacy, partnerships, and synergies further strengthens Cebu's competitive edge.
